I think the title says it all – learning never ends, that is what we have to get across to the students and teachers. It’s about teaching the kids how to learn – there is that balance between teaching them skills and that learning doesn’t end when they leave school. As a matter of fact we as librarians are still learning. We learn as we plan lessons, modify existing lessons, write curriculum, work on professional development (ours and teachers) and most of all when we are teaching.
I have learned so much from my classes of students. They always have something to teach us. And I have learned that the best laid plans sometimes don’t work. You can plan the best lesson in the world and something will go wrong – technology, the plan just doesn’t crossover from theory to practice very well.
Never forget that while you may be a teacher you are also a student. Use that knoweldge to become a better teacher to your students.
